FORUM RULES
Here are some basic guidelines to follow when using the site. I could make 100's of rules, but I think most people on the site are mature enough to know the right and wrong way to act and treat others. For first time users take a good look around and get a feel of what the site is about. New users be sure to post in the "New Member Introductions" section and let us know a little bit about you and your car!
Be Civil!
Aside from what you may think everyone CAN get along. You don't have to like everyone and everyone doesn't have to like you, but that doesn't mean we can't all use the same forum and make it work. No personal attacks will be tolerated. If you feel the need to flame someone, please do it in private e-mail or keep it to yourself. Do not feel that you have to stick up for yourself in public should somebody take a shot at you. Just notify an admin or moderator and they will be dealt with. As soon as you post something inappropriate in response to someone it makes you no better than them, so be the bigger man/woman!
Watch Your Language!
This website is read by a variety of age groups - any strong profanity, racism, or overly insulting messages will be removed. Also note certain words will be automatically filtered out by the site and replaced with all pound signs (####) These language filters are in place for a reason please do not attempt to go around them.
Post In The Right Place!
There is a bunch of different forums be sure to scan through them all before you post so you know it's in the correct section.
Use Decent Grammar!
Everyone is expected to use at least somewhat correct spelling and punctuation. On the same note you must realize not everyone on the sites first language is English. These users are doing the best they can, but their translations don't always come out quite right so give them a little slack. Also DON'T USE CAPITAL LETTERS ALL THE TIME - it looks as if you are shouting and is hard to read and just plain annoying.
Try The Search Function!
You'd be surprised at how much information is stored on the forum. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from posting since that is the point of the site, but try using the search function before you post. We can only answer the same questions so many times so do a little research first and see what you can find.
Watch Your Signatures!
There are no set in stone rules as far as size goes for the signatures. More than anything watch the vertical size of your sigs. No one wants to read a 1 line reply and have to scroll down through your 40 line signature. It is a closing to your post, not your life story. There is no need for life size pictures of your car and your full maintenance history. Generally try and keep pictures to around 100 - 200 pixels in HEIGHT. If you have a lot of other lines of text with the picture, make the height of the pic smaller or put the text to the right or left of the pic rather than above or below it. Should your sig be viewed as excessive it will be edited to an acceptable size rather than deleted altogether so you have an idea of what a reasonable size is.
